Monday night, September 26th, will hopefully see the end of our unneeded, divisive, city-manufactured "organized garbage" debate. Item 8.1 on the agenda, we'll hopefully have a quick discussion and a vote ending this debate for all time.
In the full council agenda - seen here - there are pages upon pages of citizen opposition for this ill-conceived, anti-free market, job-losing, business-confiscating, personal-rights losing idea. Of all the comments made by Brooklyn Park residents, I thought this was the best:
CLIC committee's time would be better spent actually picking up garbage rather than looking atways for government to take control of it.
Completely true.
I encourage every resident who cares about this issue to come to their city council chambers Monday night. It's late in the agenda so you can probably show up at 8 pm and be on time. Come prepared to say a few words to your city council and let them know they need to end this thing once and for all, voting no.
