State Senate Primary Day: My recommendation

Today is Primary Day for Brooklyn Park residents living in Senate District 46.  This is the primary to help choose our next State Senater after the passing of Sen. Linda Scheid.

There are two DFL candidates, one Independence Party candidate and two from the GOP.

In the DFL this will be an easy election, the endorsed candidate is Brooklyn Center Mayor's wife Chris Eaton.  She has the DFL endorsement as well as the unions.  While completely unqualified to hold office, other than being a registered voter, those who receive the party endorsement always win the primary.

In the GOP we have two candidates, Cory Jensen and Ryan Sibinski.  I know them both.

Sibinisk was the endorsed GOP candidate last year and lost to Scheid handily.  While a nice guy, his endorsement last summer by the GOP was a mistake that should not have happened.  It made the local party establishment look badly and completely out of step with conventional conservative values and principles, as well as out of step with Brooklyn Park as a whole.

Sibinski seems to be of the opinion that he's running for a Federal office instead of State Senate.  His political philosophy could be be described as Libertarian Left.  As a volunteer for Ralph Nader (hardly someone who'd sympathize with anything Republican), and a campaigner against the Fed, an anti-war campaigner, and Ron Paul supporter.  In short, his belief system is nothing near what most rank and file Republicans support.

Cory Jensen is brings experience, a conventional conservative philosophy of streamlining government, lowering the tax burden on families and businesses, and stopping the massive government spending we've seen for the past decade.  He understands his role and doesn't see it as a campaign to impose an agenda on the office.

Click on either of their website links and make us your own mind.  I'm voting for Cory Jensen.
